History of British Food

https://www.historic-uk.com/CultureUK/History-of-British-Food/ Great Britain  – three very different countries, England, Scotland and Wales, each with a rich and varied history and culture. Perhaps this explains the diversity of its culinary traditions. The history of Britain has played a large part in its traditions, its culture – and its food. The Romans for instance brought us cherries, stinging nettles ( to be used as a salad vegetable), cabbages and peas, as well as improving the cultivation of crops such as corn. And they brought us wine!  The Romans  were prolific road builders,  these roads  allowing for the first time the easy transportation of produce throughout the country. The Saxons were excellent farmers and cultivated a wide variety of herbs. These were not used just for flavour as they are today but were used as bulk to pad out stews. Why one should travel

https://www.ricksteves.com/press-room/ricks-travel-philosophy   Rick's Travel Philosophy Travel is freedom... one of the last great sources of legal adventure. Travel is intensified living, with maximum thrills per minute. It's recess, and we need it. Experiencing the real Europe requires catching it by surprise, going casual... Through the Back Door. A tight budget forces you to travel close to the ground, meeting and communicating with the people. Never sacrifice sleep, nutrition, safety, or cleanliness in the name of budget. Simply enjoy the local-style alternatives t

Rainer "Rainer was truly an incredible guide! He taught us so much about Italian history and culture, and he always found ways to make each city's experience unique and authentic. In short, he made Italy more than a 17-day tour experience; he made it a diverse, beautiful, and endlessly fascinating place to be." —  Genevieve in Louisville, KY Cary "I can't possibly say enough good things about Cary. She made the trip! She knew it was our honeymoon and did a lot of special things to make it memorable for us. It is obvious from the first minute of the tour, Cary is passionate abo
